We may have said goodbye to our precious, long summer days but fall is another treasured season here in the Puget Sound area. And what a wonder-fall season we’ve had so far! Let’s pull out those cozy sweaters, sip on some hot tea and chat about our favorite fall happenings.

Spend the Day at a Farm
Immerse yourself in the bounty of the fall harvest. There are a number of farms in the Snohomish area that open up their barnyards and farm fields for the public to enjoy. Here, your family can pick their very own pumpkins right off the vine, enjoy a hot cup of cider and even partake in a tractor-pulled hay ride (a timeless childhood favorite for many!). Some locations even have corn mazes and a petting zoo for added excitement and fun. Check out Curbed Seattle to find a pumpkin patch near you.

Perfect Your Pie Baking Skills
With Thanksgiving only a month away, now is a great time to bust out those pots and pans and practice creating a mouthwatering dessert. Better yet, solicit help from the whole family. Kids love helping sift flour, stir pots and play the role of sous chef or taste tester. Take advantage of the peak of Washington apple season and go for a fruit pie or crumble for everyone to enjoy.

Refresh and Recharge Out in Nature
With the flurry of back to school activities, work functions and family get-togethers, take some “me” time to recharge. Eastern Washington’s fall colors are stunning this time of year. Consider a relaxing ferry ride to the San Juan Islands or stay closer to home and enjoy a long day hike in the Cascades before it’s time to pull out those snow shoes. Check out some of our favorite trails here.
