Thanks to Bartell’s customers like you, in 2021 $120,207 was raised at the cash registers in store!

In Western Washington, the 2022 school year will soon be upon us with students returning to the classroom. This means it’s once again critical that we support the estimated 58,000+ local students that will begin the school year without basic school and personal hygiene supplies. Donated school supplies help children to succeed in school, build confidence, and help families use their limited income for necessities like food and housing. In the U.S. teachers spend hundreds of dollars each year out of their own pockets to provide school supplies for their students that families otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. In Puget Sound, the need is great.

All of the donated supplies will stay local, benefiting children in 119 schools within Pierce, King and Snohomish counties.

This year, Bartell’s is proud to continue its commitment and partnership to supporting families, students and teachers in our local communities and beyond, with the 20th annual School Tools Supply Drive.

Bartell Drugs, in partnership with local radio station STAR 101.5 and World Vision, continue to focus the School Tools program to reflect the evolving needs of students, and families.

The items collected during the donation drive will include toiletries, personal care items, nonperishable food items and snacks and basic school essentials. With the help of local school counselors, students, and families who may benefit from this program are identified and World Vision volunteers deliver food and essentials kits to them directly.

“Every child deserves an education. Education can lift a child out of poverty and life’s unforeseen circumstances and provide a second chance to reach their full potential. Yet, many lack basic supplies critical for learning. Teachers themselves spend an average of $500 out of pocket (many spend much more) to provide their students with necessary items. These supplies can set a student’s education journey into motion by instilling confidence to complete schoolwork, create a sense of pride in ownership, and restore dignity by leveling the playing field among better resourced peers.

In our 20th year of School Tools, World Vision will be distributing donation kits to students and schools across the King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. The items in these kits will include basic school supplies, PPE, personal care items and more. These supplies will stay local and support families near their local Bartell Drug store. World Vision’s long-term relationships with 174 schools in our local communities, will allow your donation at Bartell’s to reach the children that need it the most.”
Michael Gillespie, Sr. Director at World Vision

Throughout the entire month of August, Bartell’s welcomes donations of school supplies and personal care and hygiene products to support students in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
