At Bartell’s, we love engaging in self-care routines and making sure we are feeling our best all the time! There’s nothing quite like an afternoon of self-pampering, and we’re here to help! Whether you’re after a hair mask, a good body scrub with a relaxing bath, a full manicure treatment, or all the above, take a look below for some of our favorites that make for the perfect spa day at home.

Hair:

Every day, we apply styling products or heat to our hair. This can cause product build-up or damage to hair. You can remedy this in a variety of ways! To cleanse your hair of any product build-up, you can use an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse by mixing 1 part ACV to 5 parts water in a spray bottle or bowl in the shower and working it in. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes (use a body scrub while you wait!) and then wash your hair as usual. This will help cleanse your scalp of any product build-up. To help repair your hair and give it a super boost of moisture, check out Maui Moisture Heal & Hydrate & Shea Butter Hair Mask

If you are feeling like a change at home, you can try to give yourself a fresh look with hair color! Have you always wondered what you would look like with an ombre style? Even a bold, bright shade? Give yourself a bold semi-permanent color shift with L’Oréal Colorista in Teal or Fuchsia. If you are a fan of ombre style for a nice and simple transition, check out the L’Oréal Colorista Bleach Kit – Ombre. For root touch-ups or just a basic color change, we recommend Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Hair Color Crème.

Skin:

We all have different skin types, so it’s important to know which type of mask would be most beneficial to you. Is your skin dry? Oily? Combination? Acne-prone? There are so many different masks that target different skin types. We recommend Freemans Sheet Masks which offer masks for almost any need or Neutrogena Moisturizing Hydroboost Hydrating Sheet Mask for hydration packed pick me up. Add skincare such as moisturizer and eye cream to lock in the benefits of your masking sesh! Be sure to cleanse your skin of makeup, dirt, and oils before putting on a mask so your skin can reap the benefits.

Once you have rinsed your clay mask off or patted in the serums from a sheet mask, we recommend choosing skin care appropriate for your skincare. Below are some great recommendations:

  • Dry skin or sensitive skin:  A Great facial moisturizer for dry skin is Aveeno Ultra-Calming Nourishing Night Cream. It helps to soothe and restore skin barriers. For the under the eyes, we recommend you reach for Yes To Avocado Daily Eye Cream or Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Eye Cream.
  • Normal skin: Reach for Olay Regenerist, Night Recovery Face Cream for the perfect amount of hydration. A great eye cream to reach for is Pacifica Vegan Collagen Eye Cream which is packed with antioxidants and can reduce puffiness.
  • Oily/combo skin: Follow up with a moisturizer such as Neutrogena Naturals Multi-vitamin nourishing moisturizer. Oily skin creates more oil to make up for things it may be lacking. Providing much-needed nutrients and moisture can help balance oily skin. A recommended eye cream to finish out your routine is the Pacifica Vegan Collagen Eye Cream which won’t add any unnecessary oils to the skin.

Body:

Body care is just as important as taking care of your face. There are several things you can do to slosh away dead skin and keep your skin glowing and hydrated. You can create a body scrub using 1c sugar and 1/4c of an oil such as avocado or olive. If you prefer to grab something at the store, we recommend ArtNaturals Coffee Scrub or Dr. Teals Sugar Scrub: Shea Butter and Almond Oil.

Another fantastic way to relax is with a nice hot bath. Dissolve some bath salts with your favorite scent from Prep Your Skin or take a bath with epsom salt to help relieve muscle aches. With Dr. Teal’s Scented Pure Epsom Salt in Lavender, you can relax and relieve muscle aches at the same time.

Post-bath, grab some lotion to lock in the moisture like Olay Firming & Hydrating Body Lotion with Collagen or Nivea Essentially Enriched Almond Oil Lotion. To add a little extra moisture to your skin, add a few drops of argan oil to any lotion day or night as you are applying. Argan oil helps repair skin and create a protective barrier. We recommend grabbing Nature’s Truth Pure Moroccan Argan Oil.

Nails:

Manicures are always relaxing and fun to do at home. Clip and file your nails to your desired shape and push back your cuticles. You can use Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover to assist in getting rid of any cuticles growing down your nails. Wash your hands after and get ready to paint your nails. If you have nails that are a little uneven in texture, you can start your manicure with OPI Ridge Filler Nail Polish Base Coat Lacquer, or for protection and strength reach for OPI Start to Finish Regular Formula: Base Coat, Top Coat & Nail Strengthener.

Change up from the standard manicure by painting one nail (usually the ring finger) with a different color as an accent nail or go all out with a different color on each nail! If you prefer press-on nails,  Kiss Impress Nails come in a variety of shapes, lengths, and colors! They last up to 7 days and won’t damage your nails.

For hand care at night, you can reach for cuticle creams or nail oils to add to the hand cream. Whether your hands are dry from work or the weather, it is easy to add a quick routine to the mix.   A few suggestions are Sally Hansen Massage Cream, Cuticle or Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil. Pair these with a dab of Neutrogena Hand Cream or Aveeno Active Naturals Intense Moisture Hand Cream. This routine is perfect for polished or bare nails.

Whether you try one or try them all – relax, have fun, and enjoy!
