SEATTLE— Bartell Drugs is joining in the efforts to raise funds for the businesses that were destroyed in the March 9 gas explosion in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood.

The explosion destroyed Neptune Coffee, Mr. Gyro’s and the Greenwood Quick Stop and heavily damaged the G&O Family Cyclery. Minor damage was reported in more than a dozen surrounding businesses and buildings. Fortunately there were no significant injuries.

As a longtime business neighbor located just a block from the affected area, Bartell Drugs Greenwood store is participating in fundraising efforts to help the businesses devastated by this incident. In addition to our $2500 donation to the fund, we are encouraging Bartell customers to help rebuild the neighborhood.

Beginning March 17, donations to the relief fund can be made at our Greenwood location at 120 N 85th St, Seattle, WA 98103. We are teaming up with the Phinney Neighborhood Association to distribute funds to the businesses.

“It was exciting to see the community work together and help each other in the aftermath,” said Greenwood store manager, Trevor Gehlhausen. “The roots go deep here in Greenwood and I’m excited that Bartells and our store is able to participate in relief efforts.”

We are encouraging Greenwood neighbors and Bartell customers to make a donation today. We’ll be collecting funds at the Greenwood location through April 8, 2016.
