Coverage and Costs

CareClinic is open to everyone—all adults and children two years and up. You don’t have to be a Kaiser Permanente member. You don’t even need to be covered by an insurance carrier, but we do accept most insurance plans. It’s a good idea to contact your insurance company prior to visiting CareClinic to verify coverage for specific services, as well as any copays, coinsurance, or deductibles.

Easy payment options include cash, debit card, major credit card, FSA, check, Bartell Drugs gift card, or billing through your insurance company.

You can pay for your care as easily as you pay for your Bartell purchases. That’s the convenience of CareClinic. You can also have us bill your insurance company.

Below you will find a list of conditions treated and medical services provided. If you don’t see your symptom listed below, you can call us at 800-722-3009 to see if you can be treated out one of our neighborhood CareClinics. (Visit the ER for serious conditions, such as chest pain, high fever, broken bones, severe cuts and burns, sharp abdominal pain or shortness of breath.)

What is CareClinic?

CareClinic offers fast, affordable, and convenient walk-in medical care for minor illnesses, injuries, and preventive care.

How is CareClinic different than urgent care?

CareClinic offers a one-stop experience for minor medical needs. Because we are located within Bartell Drugs, prescriptions can be filled and supplies can be purchased without making additional stops. Urgent care facilities typically offer onsite X-ray and labs, but do not offer on-site pharmacy services.

Who will treat me?

Kaiser Permanente board-certified physician assistants (PAs) and advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs) provide care during your visit.

I’m still not sure if CareClinic can meet my needs. What do I do?

Our CareClinic providers assess each patient at the beginning of the appointment. If your condition requires services not appropriate for CareClinic, we will offer recommendations for an alternate resource.

If I don’t belong to Kaiser Permanente, can I still use CareClinic services?

Absolutely! All patients aged two and up are welcome at CareClinic, and most insurances are accepted. However, it’s a good idea to contact your insurance company prior to visiting CareClinic to verify coverage for specific services, as well as any copays, coinsurance, or deductibles.

How much does a CareClinic visit cost?

We accept most insurance and visits typically cost the same as your health plan’s office visit copay, or $89 without insurance. Our providers do their best to estimate the total cost prior to the start of your visit based on the information available to them at that time.

How much do tests and vaccines cost?

Lab tests and vaccines are typically an additional $20 each. For a complete list of available tests and vaccines, please see our Conditions Treated section. Some insurance plans cover the cost associated with tests and vaccines. Contact your plan directly to understand your coverage and potential cost share.

How do I pay?

It’s as easy to pay for your CareClinic visit as it is for any other purchase at Bartell Drugs. We accept cash, debit cards, major credit cards, FSA, checks, and Bartell Drugs gift cards, or we will bill your insurance company. Payment is made at the completion of your visit at the pharmacy counter.

Do you treat children at CareClinic?

Yes! CareClinic welcomes patients ages two and up. Parents bring their kids to CareClinic for a full range of needs. Ear infections, pinkeye, rashes, bug bites, minor cuts, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) are some examples of things we often see with kids.

I’m under 18—do I need parental consent to visit CareClinic?

Most treatment services for children under 18 require a parent or guardian’s consent. Some exceptions apply. Children ages 14 or older may give consent for treatment related to sexually transmitted diseases, for example. For more detailed information, please confer with the CareClinic provider at one of our clinics or call 800-722-3009.

Can I make an appointment ahead of time?

CareClinic is a walk-in service, although you can add you name to the list of patients before your visit using the online check-in tool by the map above, or on a CareClinic location page.

How do I check in?

When you arrive at Bartell Drugs, check in at the designated CareClinic line at the pharmacy desk.

What if I need a prescription filled?

Prescriptions can be conveniently filled at Bartell Drugs after your CareClinic visit. If you typically use a different Bartell Drugs for your prescription needs, your regular store will see a record of the prescription in your file.

If I’m a Kaiser Permanente member, will I receive my Kaiser Permanente pharmacy benefits at Bartell Drugs?

Yes. If a prescription results from your CareClinic visit, you can have that prescription filled at that CareClinic Bartell Drugs location for the same rate you would pay at a Kaiser Permanente pharmacy.

Can you provide a record of my visit to my primary care provider (PCP)?

Yes. CareClinic uses the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system. Records are available to Kaiser Permanente PCPs and any other PCPs using EPIC, whether they are in Washington or across the country. If your provider is not on EPIC or you would like a copy of your visit record, your CareClinic provider can give you a copy at the time of the visit or you can contact 800-722-3009 to request a release of information.

Why Kaiser Permanente and Bartell Drugs?

Both organizations have a mission to provide affordable health care services and improve the health of the communities they serve. Our clinics give people access to care in a way that fits into their busy lives. We are open days, evenings, and weekends, and no appointment is necessary.

When are CareClinics open?

CareClinics are open every day 9:00am – 7:00pm., including weekends and most holidays, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. CareClinics are open regular hours all other days of the year.

Does CareClinic close for lunch breaks?

CareClinic clinicians work independently the entirety of their shift, and will close briefly for breaks and lunches. Staff make their best effort to work around patients in line and to take breaks and lunches during slow periods. The longest that a CareClinic will be closed for a lunch break is 30 minutes, typically between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Can I talk to a CareClinic provider on the phone?

Our providers do not field direct phone calls so they can focus exclusively on the patient they’re seeing. If you need to contact CareClinic, please call 800-722-3009 or e-mail
