Leanne Yturralde
Store Manager I Magnolia

I have worked for Bartell Drugs for 15 years, but in the beginning of my career I was very shy. When I was given the opportunity to lead the Magnolia location, I had to overcome my fear and get out of my comfort zone to pursue my goal of becoming a Store Leader. I will never forget the way the community welcomed and embraced me…that’s when I knew this was my passion.

I think that Women’s History Month is a perfect time to celebrate the contributions of women in our society who have paved the way for so many of us to achieve whatever we want to achieve. I am inspired by so many colleagues who have served as mentors for me, and I continue to be inspired by them as well as my family, my employees, and my customers.

My advice to any future female leaders would be to be a good listener, enjoy what you do and always stay curious.

In my 22 of years of working for Bartell’s, I think that the most important thing that I have learned is how to be flexible and embrace change. I also remember to wake up every morning with a positive attitude because having the right mindset is essential for accomplishing anything.

If I were to give advice to the next generation of female leaders at Bartell’s, or anywhere else, it would be to take on a project that scares you. Stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way to learn and grow. Always think positive and success will follow.

I am honored to have worked for Bartell Drugs for 23 years. What inspires me to come to work every day is to help my team do the very best job they can do and to feel a sense of accomplishment for a job well done. When I think about my journey, there have been lots of obstacles. I think, to truly be successful, you need to look for positive solutions and view every challenge as an opportunity.

For me personally, my aha moment came once I realized, and actually believed, that I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. Believing in yourself is the key.

I think that Women’s History Month is a time for women to shine in their professional surroundings and celebrate each other’s successes.

Pharmacy Scheduler

When I started in the pharmacy industry, every pharmacist I worked with was male. I did not work with a female pharmacist until I started at Bartell Drugs in 2007. I would say that being a female in the pharmacy world is a huge achievement. I have worked with amazing female managers, store managers, regional leaders, and SVPs. I hope it reminds others that at companies like Bartell Drugs, the sky is the limit on how you can grow.

Every day I am inspired by the people I work with and get to interact with. The relationships I have formed and the people I have mentored that have gone into successful roles have inspired me to keep trying new things.

Women’s History Month reminds me just how far we have come. I am so honored to share my experiences and be a part of this celebration. I have two young daughters and I want to teach them that they can do whatever they set their minds to. Some things may take hard work and perseverance, but it will be worth it when they achieve their goal. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

Women's History Month highlights women supporting women and as a pharmacy leader, I take pride in identifying talented young women and encouraging them to participate in the tech-in-training program or intern programs to broaden their skillset and achieve their goals, allowing and encouraging them to dream bigger.

I remember struggling with confidence in the beginning of my leadership journey and was fortunate enough to have a strong female district manager that encouraged and inspired me to reach for big things and to dream bigger for myself. She acted as my mentor and continues to do so, and I hope to be able to do that for other developing leaders.

If I could give advice to young women coming into the workforce today, I would encourage them to be true to themselves, stay positive, and maintain a work-life balance.
