May 3, 2004 marks the beginning of the registration period for the new Medicare Prescription Drug Discount program, which goes into effect June 1. As many as 30 companies are offering discount card programs that have been approved by Medicare and comply with the new program. Although Bartell Drugs will only be enrolling customers in the PCA Card plan, we will honor most of the alternative discount card programs.

Bartell Drugs will offer our customers membership in the Pharmacy Care Alliance plan. Pharmacy Care Alliance was formed by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and is supported by more than 41,000 pharmacies across the U.S.  Bartell Drugs selected the Pharmacy Care Alliance Card because it offers superior cost reductions to our customers and because it permits customers to maintain their relationship with their local pharmacist. 

Bartell Drugs customers who sign up for the Pharmacy Care Alliance (PCA Card) will receive discounts of 10 to 20 percent on brand-name prescription drugs and up to 40 percent on generic prescription drugs. You can enroll online or visit any of your neighborhood Bartell Drug stores and speak to a Pharmacist about your options.
