Bartell Drugs teams up with Newsradio 710 KIRO for Fight Hunger Campaign for Northwest Harvest
SEATTLE—Newsradio 710 KIRO’s 24th annual Fight Hunger Campaign to benefit Northwest Harvest is underway, and Bartell Drugs is again the presenting sponsor in the effort to secure non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the needy. Bartell’s customers gathered more than 24,000 pounds of food and $5,000 in donations during last year’s drive.
Now through April 29, customers can donate non-perishable food items at all 54 Bartell drugstores. The drive’s finale--“Fight Hunger Day” on April 27—will feature a day-long, on-air campaign to collect food donations. 710 KIRO will air broadcasts from Bartell Drugs locations in Edmonds, Tacoma, 6th & Union, and Kingsgate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Northwest Harvest fills a tremendously important need within the community, one that addresses the very basic of needs,” said George D. Bartell. “They help more than 3,000 people a week and distribute food to 300 hunger programs in the communities we serve.”
Customer preferring to make a cash donation will receive a receipt noting the contribution.
Local Girl Scouts troops will be supporting the drive in 2007 by going door-to-door to collect food non perishable food donations for Northwest Harvest. Bartell’s locations have been designated as collection sites for the donations they receive.
