SEATTLE—The Moyer Foundation and Bartell Drugs have joined forces in a new fundraising effort to raise funds to care for Sri Lanka children orphaned by last December’s tsunami.
Beginning March 7, sea blue “Care For Each Other” bracelets will be available for purchase at all 53 Bartell Drugs locations for $2.00. 100% of the proceeds generated from the sale of the bracelets will directly support and assist the Sri Lanka orphans through Asiana Education Development (AED)—a local non-profit organization that assists thousands of children with education, nutrition and health through its 71 schools and a home for orphans.
“Thousands of children were left orphans after the tsunami tragedy. AED, started by Seattle people, already having established schools and a home for orphans nearly ten years ago, was on the scene right away. Their strong relationship with the Sri Lanka government will allow funds from bracelet sales to go directly to the children in need,” said Karen Moyer, co-founder and vice president of The Moyer Foundation.
Over 7,000 children were orphaned by the December 26 tsunami. Currently, AED is helping many of these victims. Proceeds from bracelet sales will help fund the rebuilding of schools and provide homes for these children.
“The Moyer Foundation has done a phenomenal job of providing support and assistance for children at both the local and national levels, said Rebecca Siegmund, assistant vice president of marketing for Bartell Drugs. “We are very proud to have the opportunity to partner with them on this project as they expand their assistance to children around the world."
