FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
New system will enable customers to instantaneously transfer prescriptions to any Bartell Drugs location
SEATTLE—Bartell Drugs will be making prescription filling easier for Puget Sound customers this year as it implements chain wide pharmacy connectivity by the end of January. The 52-store chain will be one of only two chains in the Puget Sound market to offer customers the ability to fill prescriptions at any of its store locations without having to call their home store for information.
According to Mike McMurray, assistant vice president of marketing for Bartell’s, aside from convenience, the most noticeable benefit of the system is in the amount of time it will save customers. Instead of taking hours to transfer prescription information, it will only take an instant.
To refill prescriptions, customers will simply need to provide the pharmacist with their name, the name of the prescription they want to refill and the store location where it was originally filled. For new prescriptions, customers only need to provide the new prescription along with their name--providing they have filled prescriptions at a Bartell Drugs location in the past.
Utilizing a secure centralized database that runs off of its chain system, any Bartell Drugs Pharmacy will be able to instantaneously access and transfer a customer’s prescription, insurance and allergy information at the click of a button. Customers will be able to take advantage of the new system both for in person and phone-in prescriptions.
The Bartell Drug Company is the nation’s oldest drugstore chain. The family-owned company has 52 stores in King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties.
