FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SEATTLE—Bartell Drugs has begun work on a new store in the heart of downtown Seattle—it’s first new downtown addition since 1991--inside the Union Bank of California Center at 4th and Madison.
The new 15,572 square foot location will be located in the Northwest corner of the building on the ground floor and is set to open mid-summer. The new store will be the largest of three stores located in Seattle’s downtown core.
According to George D. Bartell, chairman and CEO of the 52-store chain, the new “high visibility” location— close to the city’s major hotels, the largest downtown office building and the new Seattle Public Library—“will have a heavier emphasis on convenience foods and drinks to accommodate the needs of increasingly time-crunched office workers and residents.”
The full-service store will also feature on-site, one hour photo finishing, a digital print center, camera and sound products, health and beauty products, nutritional supplements, greeting cards, cosmetics, household products, school and office supplies and more.
GGLO Architects designed the store and JR Abbott is the general contractor.
The new downtown Seattle store will employ approximately 25 employee associates.
The Bartell Drug Company is the nation’s oldest drugstore chain. The family-owned company has 52 stores in King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties.
