FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SEATTLE—Bartell Drugs wraps up its 113th anniversary celebration with the grand opening of its new Edmonds location and an unusual dedication to a former employee. A grand opening ceremony, including area civic and business leaders and company management, is set for May 27 at 10:00 a.m.
Located at Southwest 100th and Edmonds Way (SR104), the much-anticipated new 15,000 square-foot location is part of Westgate Village’s new shopping development, which includes an existing Starbucks location and a pizza parlor along with other new tenants. The chain’s 52nd store will employ approximately 25 employee associates.
The Edmonds store marks the first location to be dedicated to a former employee. The late John Jackson, an Edmonds resident and district manager who oversaw the company’s stores in Snohomish and North King counties, was actively involved in the decision making process for the site prior to his death in 2001. A commemorative plaque marking the dedication will be placed on the store.
“We’ve had an unusually high level of interest from our customers about this store. We are looking forward to opening our doors and serving the Edmonds community,” said George D. Bartell, CEO and chairman of the company.
The full-service store will feature a drive-thru pharmacy, on-site/one hour photo finishing, camera and sound products, health and beauty products, nutritional supplements, greeting cards, cosmetics, snacks and convenience foods, housewares, automotive products, pet supplies and more.
Customers will also be able to utilize the store’s convenient location to pick up prescriptions and other items ordered online at www.bartelldrugs.com.
The Bartell Drug Company is the nation’s oldest drugstore chain. The family-owned company has 51 stores in King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties.
