FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SEATTLE—Bartell Drugs breaks ground on a new store in Edmonds this week—it’s 11th in Snohomish County—in a new shopping development located at Southwest 100th and Edmonds Way (SR104).
The new 15,000 square-foot location is set to open in the spring of 2003, according to George D. Bartell, chairman and CEO of the 50-store chain.
The family-owned company’s new store in Edmonds will be among the Chain’s largest and will be part of Westgate Village, a new development formerly known as Westway Center. The site was acquired by Bartell’s and other partners and will include the drugstore, an existing Starbucks location and pizza parlor, as well as new tenants. The area already includes a QFC, Albertson’s, restaurants, and other retail and service businesses.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to better serve our customers in the Edmonds community. This development will be a great addition to an already vibrant retail environment,” Bartell said.
The full-service store will feature on-site, one hour photo finishing, a drive-thru pharmacy, camera and sound products, health and beauty products, nutritional supplements, greeting cards, cosmetics, snacks and convenience foods, housewares, automotive products, pet supplies and more.
The Edmonds store is expected to employ approximately 25 employee associates.
Customers will also be able to utilize the store’s convenient location to pick up prescriptions and other items ordered online at www.bartelldrugs.com.
Bartell Drugs is the nation’s oldest drugstore chain. The family-owned company owns and operates 50 stores in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.
